A Great Smile is a Healthier You!

At Dental Implant Aesthetic Center, we’re here to guide you through your denture options, including all-on-four dental implants and snap-on dentures. Both are replacement options for missing natural teeth, but they differ in material, cost and functionality.

All-on-four dental implants are a permanent solution that involves a surgical procedure to place four small titanium post implants into your jawbone. These act as the foundation for a full arch of teeth. Getting dental implants takes longer than getting dentures but results in a more stable, natural-looking smile. Unlike traditional or conventional dentures, there’s no worry about slippage or bone loss in the long run.

Snap-in dentures, also called snap-on dentures, are a type of removable denture that’s implant-supported but not permanently affixed to the bone. The denture material snaps onto attachments on the dental implants. These are less time-consuming to fit and offer the flexibility to remove them as you wish. They’re generally less expensive up front than all-on-four dental implants but may require adjustments over time due to bone loss.

Both options allow people to enjoy food, smile with confidence and speak without difficulty. The best candidate for each option depends on various factors, including bone density, time and budget. Our dentist carefully evaluates patients’ needs to recommend the ideal solution for your mouth.

We’re committed to providing you with the highest-quality care and helping you find the right fit for your tooth loss needs.

DO YOU HAVE A FAILING DENTITION OR ARE YOU MISSING YOUR TEETH?

Often times, there is a point in life where we begin to recognize that our teeth are no longer providing us with the function we once had. You can no longer smile with confidence, you can’t enjoy the foods you love, or speak as clearly as you once did, and you’re tired of dental pain. You have decided that it’s time to do something about your failing teeth. You have found the right place. At the Dental Implant Aesthetic Center, we want to help you get back to your most comfortable and confident self. We can provide you with the implant overdenture, or “snap on” denture that you have been looking for.

Implant Overdentures “Snap on Teeth”

Implant overdentures, or “snap on teeth,” are designed with the placement of 2-4 implants. This restoration takes advantage of implant connections to provide an option that feels secure and more closely resembles natural teeth when compared to conventional complete dentures. With this prosthesis, you can expect improvements in:

Mastication – chewing ability is improved by replacing missing teeth secured by implants

Aesthetics – Restores a natural and attractive appearance to the teeth, but can also correct the collapsed exterior of the lips and cheeks that occur after losing teeth

Confidence – a healthy and beautiful-looking smile will help the patient feel more confident

Phonetics – by replacing missing teeth, patients will be able to better pronounce certain words that require the use of teeth to speak

Unlike conventional dentures, implant supported dentures allow for less coverage of your oral tissues, with many designs of this type of prosthesis the roof of your mouth can mostly remain uncovered. This less bulky alternative to conventional complete dentures allows for you to better experience the taste, textures, and temperatures of the foods you love!

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

The first step towards your implant overdenture restoration is consultation. During your consultation you will speak with one of our prosthodontists, Dr. Schulter or Dr. Felton, who have been extensively trained in the mechanics of delivering high quality implant restorations that fit you. It is important that we meet with you to understand your dental concerns, your expectations, and to learn about any health conditions that may need special consideration during the process. During your consultation appointment, we begin the records process, which involves information collection, dental impressions (molds of your teeth), photographs, and a CBCT scan. Once your consultation is complete, and all necessary records have been collected, we will be ready to schedule you for your implant placement surgery and the delivery of your new teeth!

What is a CBCT?

CBCT is short for cone beam commuted tomography. It is a medical/dental imaging technique. This technique allows us to capture a 3-dimensional image of your jawbone and it is extremely important and useful in implant dentistry. At the Dental Implant Aesthetic Center, we have CBCT imaging capability, so we will ensure we have the images and detail necessary to plan for safe implant placement.

THE DAY OF YOUR PROCEDURE

At the time of your procedure, we will extract the teeth (if needed) to place the implants that will later be used to help retain your final teeth. A removable temporary prosthesis, lined with soft material, will be delivered to you to wear home that day.  This advanced treatment technique requires a skilled surgeon and prosthodontist to achieve results that allow the patient to leave the same day with new teeth and implants that will be used to retain the final overdenture prosthesis after a healing period of about 3-6 months.

DO I GET MY FINAL OVERDENTURE THE SAME DAY MY TEETH ARE PLACED?

You will leave the office the day you have your implants placed wearing a conventional interim complete denture, this means your initial temporary prosthesis will not be connected to your implants immediately. Differences in the implant connection for an overdenture do not allow us to connect to the implants the same day they are placed. Therefore, the day of implant surgery for your overdenture prosthesis, you will leave the office with an interim/temporary complete denture lined with a soft material for comfort. After an implant healing period of about 3-6 months, we will begin the process of making you your final overdenture prosthesis that will connect to your implants.

When I lost my tooth, I didn’t want to show my smile. Dr. Felton explained the implant process in a way that I could really understand and I was confident that I had come to the right place.  She placed my implant and my new tooth gave me back the confidence to smile again.

We’ve been going to Dr. Schulter for at least 30 years. I’ve had a broad range of services completed at the Dental Implant Aesthetic Center, from cleanings, to crowns, and dental implants. In 2012, I fell and damaged several of my front teeth. I was able to get on the schedule for an emergency visit…
